L'Ecole de Ballet works closely with Pattersons in Chelmsford to ensure that all students acquire the appropriate attire.

 

 

BALLET

Girls:

All girls should have hair pulled back in a bun.  A ponytail is allowed for pre-ballet students only.

Underwear should not be worn under leotards, tights are sufficient.

    All levels         Pink Tights, Pink ballet slippers by Capezio, Grishko,  or Bloch. 

We have found that other brands of slippers do not last as well, and often inhibit the development of proper technique.  It is tempting to purchase the cheaper shoes (from discount stores), but they do not fit like a glove, the way ballet slippers should, and the soles are too stiff to encourage proper use of the foot while dancing.

All levels, optional:

Skirts: Short, opaque, ballet skirts only.  These skirts are specifically designed to allow a dancer to move and stretch, and to allow the teacher to see muscle movements.  Please remember this is a classical ballet school, tutus, although cute, are not appropriate class wear, please reserve them for dress-up time at home.  Skirts covered with enormous bows and sequins are also not allowed, they are distracting to the eye, and again not appropriate for a classical ballet school

For cooler weather students may wear leg warmers and dance sweaters. No other type of covering will be allowed as bulky clothing hides improper technique and  posture problems.

Boys:

    All levels         Black unitard, tights, or dance shorts, white T-shirt.

                              Black ballet slippers by Capezio or Bloch

JAZZ

    All levels         Black Capezio, Bloch, or Leos jazz loafers. 

TAP

       Girls:             Beginning tap                                         White low-heeled tap shoes.

                              Intermediate or Advanced Tap           Black lace tap shoes.

       Boys:             All levels                                                  Black tap shoes

                All students must wear proper dance attire (unitard, leotard, stretch pants etc.) No bulky clothing will be allowed.
